Our principles

Values of the Nordic School

  • All school activities are carried out in accordance with fundamental democratic values and it is the task of the school to establish and help children acquire the values on which a democratic society is based.
  • The inviolability of human life, individual freedom and integrity, the equal value of all people, equality between the genders as well as solidarity with the weak and vulnerable are all values that the school shall actively promote in its work with children.
  • Care and considerations towards other persons, as well as justice and equality, in addition to the rights of each individual shall be emphasized and made explicit in all school activity.
  • Children assimilate ethical values and norms primarily through their concrete experiences. The attitudes of adults influence the child’s understanding and respect for the rights and obligations that apply in a democratic society. For this reason adults serve an important role as models.
  • Recognizing the opportunities as well as challenges in intercultural settings. The school actively strives for respect and understanding of the different cultural backgrounds and living conditions of all staff at the school.
  • In cooperation the school, the parents/guardians and the children lay the foundation for life long learning.

Principles of the Nordic School

The Nordic Pedagogical Principles are based on the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish Preschool curriculums.

  • The school should be enjoyable and secure and create a good environment for well-being (trivsel), personal development and learning for all children.
  • The school should provide children with good pedagogical activities, where care, nurturing, playing and learning together form a coherent whole.
  • The children should be given support in developing trust and self-confidence.
  • Children’s curiosity, ambitions and interest should be encouraged and their will and desire to learn stimulated.
  • The task of the school involves not only developing the children’s ability and cultural creativity, but also passing on cultural heritage – its values, traditions and history, language and knowledge.
  • The school develops children’s intercultural understanding with emphasis on Tanzania.
  • The school is professional operated with highly qualified and Nordic speaking teachers.
  • The school provides a social meeting point.
  • The school facilities include class rooms and equipment which can comfortably allow for the activities of the school to take place. Out door space provides the children with a safe and stimulating play and sports area that encourages physical activity.
