For more than 50 years, the Swedish School Society, more commonly known as The Nordic School, has served
the extended Nordic community of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The school provides a nurturing, supportive
environment based on Nordic pedagogical principles, for children ages 1-6 years, in the preschool program, and
children ages 5-13 years, in the after-school program. Teachers work together to plan and implement a
curriculum that focuses on play-based learning, language development and cultural inclusion according to
Nordic pedagogical values. Employees are provided with medical insurance packages, paid sick leave and yearly
travel allowances. The school offers affordable accommodation on the premises. All candidates need verbal
fluency in English and Swedish. Candidates with other Nordic languages like Danish, Norwegian or Finnish may

Head of Education:
The Nordic School is looking for an experienced pre-school teacher to head the pedagogical leadership team.
The candidate should have worked extensively in a Nordic country and have a preschool teaching degree or
similar educational qualifications. In collaboration with the teachers, the Head of Education will develop an
annual work plan, update, and revise the curriculum, procedures, daily routines and activities for Pre- and After School. In collaboration with the parents and other teachers, the Head of Education will maintain beneficial
routines for “inskolning” (settling in) of new children and families while controlling and supervising the work of
all pedagogical staff and their professional development. The Head of Education is responsible for parental
relations and supervising the supplementary Swedish language classes.
The candidate should have a preschool teaching degree or similar educational qualifications. The work includes
comprehensive preschool care, following the Nordic pedagogical values, supporting children in developing
physically, mentally, emotionally and socially in a holistic manner. Nordic School is looking for candidates who
have experience from Nordic preschools and can contribute to pedagogical development and capacity building
at the school.
After School Teacher:
The candidate should have work experience from a Nordic after school. They must have a genuine professional
interest in the well-being and development of children, be proactive towards creating and engaging in a positive
child-centered school environment. Candidates that have a relevant educational background are favored.
